Most racing on a race course is start to finish and the competitors race for the best time across that distance. Particularly in erg racing some regattas or events at regattas can be a race over some period of time to strive for the highest total meters.
To configure a flight for distance racing:
- Change to the scheduling tab
- Turn on the Advanced checkbox to show the advanced options chosen for all of the flights
- Turn on the Distance checkbox for each flight that should be a race for distance.
- Optionally, for team racing, if you want to show the individual distances raced for each athlete in an entry, turn on Splits for that flight.
The effect on the results of racing for distance is that the distance column appears and if Splits are desired, then the individual splits appear.
In the Referee app, when a flight is racing for distance, the fields displayed for that flight change. Restoration of Fairness is not an option for distance racing and there is no option for adding manual times. The user may select “Edit Distance” to change into spreadsheet mode to edit the individual distances.
